On a sun-drenched Spring day, more than 200 golfers competed in the 37th annual Cardinal’s Open on May 8 at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck. The event raised funds for programs of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York.

Those programs, located throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island, as well as seven upstate counties, serve more than 400,000 New Yorkers every year through more than 90 agencies encompassing more than 300 sites.

Golfers at the Cardinal’s Open contribute to the support of services provided by Catholic Charities in the areas of feeding the hungry (more than eight million meals served yearly); sheltering the homeless, as well as strengthening families, nurturing children, supporting the emotionally and physically disabled, providing housing and preventing evictions, and welcoming immigrants and refugees. Images from the event can be seen on photographer Mathew Adam’s website.
