About the St. Nicholas Project

The St. Nicholas Project is a year-round initiative to help the most vulnerable in New York City and neighboring communities by providing support to individuals and families through donations of essential items and connecting them to much needed services.

In addition to providing food, emergency cash assistance, and case management support throughout the year, we distribute winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters, blankets, and more to those who otherwise would go without during the cold winter months.

Adopt-A-Family

Join us in making the holiday season brighter for these New York families during Christmas! With your help, each year Catholic Charities provides families with basic winter essentials.

How to Get Involved
Adopt families from one to eight members. Complete the form and we’ll match you with a family. A description of their needs will be sent to you. Then, shop for your family and drop your gifts at our location near you. Our volunteers will deliver the gifts. No time to shop? You can still help by making a monetary donation.

Help Make a Difference in the Lives of New Yorkers

Because of your help and generosity, we provided warm winter clothing to over
5,000 people, from New York City to the Hudson Valley.

Applications for the 2023 season will open soon.
We encourage you to register with our volunteer program to keep up-to-date
on the 2023 season and other volunteer opportunities.
