Each year, Catholic Charities of New York reaches more than 400,000 people, serving over 1,000 neighbors every day. Among the most urgent challenges is food insecurity, as rising costs force too many families to make impossible choices. Through food pantries, pop-up distributions, and parish-based programs, Catholic Charities of New York provides more than 10 million meals every year.
Now, you can make an even greater impact.
At a recent pop-up food pantry at St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, neighbors lined up early for support. For volunteers like Eloise, the work is deeply personal. Once a recipient of the pantry herself, she now gives back to the same program that helped her family through difficult times.
“It’s my community, and I know there are a lot of people that really need food,” Eloise said. “I like giving back because I’ve been blessed to get help.”
Demand for food assistance continues to grow.
“We thought that once COVID passed, we’d go back to the norm, of people needing food access. But not in the droves we’re seeing today,” said Lakisha Morris, Division Director of Food and Housing Stability at Catholic Charities of New York.
Still, the mission remains clear: to meet each community with care and dignity.
“It’s not just providing food anymore. It’s providing what you need, what the household needs. We’re giving you choices,” Lakisha said. “We’re hearing, ‘Thank you for considering me.’”
Make your gift today — and double your impact for New Yorkers in need.
