Catholic Charities of New York Honored in The New York Times Communities Fund Annual Holiday Giving Campaign

The New York Times Communities Fund

The New York Times Communities Fund has selected Catholic Charities of New York as a beneficiary for the 114th year. Since 1911, The New York Times Communities Fund has encouraged readers to support remarkable mission-driven organizations through this annual holiday season giving campaign.

To date, The Fund has raised over $354 million for local, national and global nonprofit organizations that have helped millions of people who are under-resourced and over-burdened improve their circumstances and lead more enriching lives.

Catholic Charities is proud to be the oldest beneficiary of The New York Times Communities Fund. This year marks the 114th anniversary of the partnership.

“Just as The New York Times reviews restaurants and movies, just as we recommend the best televisions on Wirecutter, we’ve also selected nonprofits to guide readers to some that are particularly effective. That’s the role of The New York Times Communities Fund,” said Nicholas Kristof, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and New York Times columnist.

All funds received by Catholic Charities from The Fund will benefit two priority areas of need: Special Education & Early Intervention Services and Housing Educational Programming.

“The New York Times Communities Fund believes that education is key to creating opportunity and breaking cycles of poverty. And for that reason, it’s become The Fund’s focus. By supporting inspiring partner organizations in this space, we’re working with you to make quality learning accessible for all,” said Kristof.

In the heart of a compassionate and welcoming city that never sleeps, Catholic Charities stands as a beacon of hope for our fellow New Yorkers in need. Catholic Charities is proud to be a trusted partner of The New York Times for 114 years and to be a part of The New York Times Communities Fund.

Catholic Charities thanks The New York Times and its readers for over a century of impact together. Our accomplishments are fueled by the generosity of supporters like you.

Catholic Charities joins Children’s Aid, First Book, UJA-Federation of New York, Per Scholas, OneGoal and CAMFED in this recognition.
