Even When Public School Buildings Are Temporarily Closed, Free Grab-And-Go Meals Are Available

Starting November 19, 2020, The New York City Department of Education and the Mayor’s Office want New Yorkers to know that the grab-and-go free meal program for students, families and community members is still in operation while New York City Public Schools are temporarily closed for in-person learning. The free meals are available at Public School locations throughout the City.

Families and students may continue to visit their local Public School between 9:00 AM and Noon on weekdays to pick up three free grab-and-go meals. Parents and guardians may pick up meals for their children. You do not need identification or documentation to receive meals.

Members of the community may pick up free meals Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Multiple meals may be picked up at once. And as for students and families, you do not need documentation or ID to take part in this program.

If you know of someone who might need food, please let them know. If someone is elderly or housebound, consider picking up the meal package and dropping it off. You may pick up 3 meals at a time, which really helps.
