Catholic Charities’ staff and volunteers will be joining the Sept. 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance at the USS Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, part of an effort to assemble a million dry meals for those at risk of hunger.
Christina Perez, Assistant Manager of Agency Relations, said that Catholic Charities is seeking volunteers willing to commit from 2 to 4 p.m. and/or from 5 to 7 p.m. The Catholic Charities’ group will be part of the 5,000 volunteers representing 40 companies and interfaith groups. The food packets will be delivered to the Food Bank of New York City. Ms. Perez said that children over the age of 12 are encouraged to participate (those under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult). The last day to register is Monday, August 30th.
