Msgr. Kevin Sullivan has been named to City & State’s 2022 Nonprofit Power 100 list, cited as one of “the public officials, philanthropic leaders and nonprofit executives leading the sector in New York.”

City & State, a daily newsletter, covers the non-profit sector in the metropolitan region.

Msgr. Sullivan, Executive Director of Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of New York, was recognized for his direction in leading the agency through an intense year during which Catholic Charities partnered with the state and city to provide supportive housing, relief for survivors of Hurricane Ida, and legal services for refugees from Afghanistan, Ukraine and Haiti. City & State noted that in March Msgr. Sullivan was appointed to the New York City Districting Commission by Mayor Eric Adams.

Of the 100 leaders of non-profit agencies cited for their influence on civic and charitable life in New York, Msgr. Sullivan was ranked number 15. Twyla Carter, CEO of the Legal Aid Society, was ranked Number One, followed by Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and Ford Foundation President Darren Walker. Others listed include New York City Commissioners Gary P. Jenkins, Jess Dannhauser and Loraine Cortes-Vazquez, and Richard R. Buery, CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation.

In announcing the list, City & State noted that “Nonprofit organizations play an invaluable and yet overlooked role in New York. Social services nonprofits contract with government agencies to carry out essential functions, whether it’s protecting children, caring for the elderly, or providing aid to the poor… These organizations, with rare exceptions, are led by idealistic executives who toil day after day to make New York a better place.”
