Helping Our Newest Neighbors Through This Difficult Year

Catholic Charities’ Immigrant and Refugee Services Division is proud of the help and hope brought to America’s newcomers in this very challenging year. Our work continues—the work of staff, volunteers, supporters, and the communities we serve—as together we strive to build a more just and compassionate society. With thanks to all who continue to share in the journey! 

Immigrant and Refugee Services 2020 Impact:

• 21,559 vulnerable immigrants and refugees provided with integration, legal, or resettlement assistance 
 • 22,106 immigrants attended in-person or virtual information/orientation sessions, workshops, and trainings 
 • 75,051 calls or emails for help and referrals answered promptly with accurate information in multiple languages 
 • 9,791 unaccompanied children and adults given expert immigration legal counsel and safeguarded from exploitation 
 • 1,163 newcomers taught English and civics 
 • 4,465 adults and children provided with legal representation 
 • 581 breadwinners helped to obtain authorization to work 
 • 1,911 reunited with their families, granted permanent status, received citizenship, obtained protection, or secured status 
 • 1,129 unaccompanied children received legal orientation in detention 
• 611 refugees and asylees provided with employment and resettlement support
