Catholic Charities New York Virtual Gala Kicks Off On June 14

Cardinal Timothy Dolan and the board of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York invite donors and friends to a Virtual Gala on Monday, June 14, beginning online at 7 p.m.

At the Virtual Gala, Frank J. Bisignano, President and Chief Executive Officer and Director of Fiserv, will be honored with the Deus Caritas Est Award.

The event, said Msgr. Kevin Sullivan, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, is a way to support Catholic Charities’ efforts to make New York “a more just and compassionate place to live.” Funds raised via the Gala, the 12th such annual event, will allow Catholic Charities’ to continue its work in assisting those in need.

One recent example Msgr. Sullivan noted was Charities’ development of affordable housing in the Bronx, through which 319 families have been placed in affordable, modern apartments. Charities’ also distributed 250 bags of groceries at a Holy Thursday dedication by Cardinal Dolan.

Deus Caritas Est Award recipient Mr. Bisignano leads Fiserv, a $15.8 billion global leader in financial services and payments technology solutions. The company serves clients in more than 100 countries, and in 2021 was recognized among FORTUNE® World’s Most Admired Companies for an eighth consecutive year.

He first joined Fiserv in 2019 as part of the company’s transformative combination with First Data Corporation, for which Mr. Bisignano served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for seven years. With his transition to Fiserv, Bisignano led the company’s day-to-day operations as President and Chief Operating Officer before assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer in July 2020.

During his tenure at First Data, Mr.Bisignano transformed the 48-year-old company from the world’s largest traditional payment processor into a technology innovator, industry collaborator, and commerce enabler for the 21st century. He also led its $2.6 billion initial public offering in 2015, the largest U.S. IPO of the year.

Before joining First Data, Mr. Bisignano served as Co-Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Mortgage Banking at JPMorgan Chase & Co.

With more than 30 years of executive leadership experience in banks and global financial institutions, Mr. Bisignano also served in multiple leadership positions at Citigroup, including Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Executive Officer of the company’s Global Transaction Services unit.

Among a number of non-profit commitments, he serves on the boards of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, the Mount Sinai Health System, and The Battery Conservancy.

In 2010, he was awarded the Syracuse University Chancellor’s Medal for Outstanding Achievement for his innovation in technology and education; and in 2017, Syracuse acknowledged his distinguished business career, his work in championing higher education and his support of the disadvantaged with an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree. In 2014, New York Institute of Technology awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree for his achievements in business and philanthropy.

In 2019, Bisignano received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Howard University for his technical innovation in support of the newly renovated Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, and an Honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College.
