Three Kings Day Joy: Alianza Brings Smiles with Toys!

The Three Kings Day celebration on January 3, 2025, at the Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center radiated warmth, joy, and the magic of the holiday season. Students and community members gathered at the vibrant Washington Heights hub, where Alianza Dominicana—a cornerstone of Catholic Charities NY’s network—has been uplifting at-risk youth and families in northern Manhattan and the Bronx for over 25 years. With its commitment to education, the arts, and family support, Alianza has become a beacon of hope for many in the community.

On this special day, the Cultural Center was transformed into a festive haven. Tables brimmed with colorful gifts, waiting to light up the faces of eager children. The air buzzed with excitement, laughter, and the unmistakable sense of community. “The students are able to get some gifts and learn a little bit about the history of the Three Kings,” shared Stephanie Then, Youth Advocate at the High School of Health Careers and Science with Alianza Services, as she watched the children engage with the celebration.

For the children, receiving their gifts was more than just a moment of happiness—it was a tangible reminder that they are loved and supported. Bright-eyed and smiling, Andrew Graham, a young participant, reflected on the positive impact Alianza has had on his life. “Alianza has helped me a lot with my homework and all the activities,” he said confidently. “I know that one day I will achieve my dream.”

Adding to the magic, New York State Assemblyman Manny De Los Santos joined the festivities dressed as one of the Three Kings. With a regal robe and crown, he helped distribute toys to the children, embodying the spirit of generosity and care. “This event is an opportunity to come together with Catholic Charities NY to identify resources for children who are often left behind,” he remarked. “I am grateful and honored to collaborate with Catholic Charities for the second year in a row to bring the Three Kings to Alianza.”

Beyond the gifts and joyful faces, the celebration was a poignant reminder of the strength and unity within the community. It showcased the power of faith, compassion, and collective effort in nurturing the next generation’s dreams. As Catholic Charities NY and Alianza Dominicana continue their vital work, events like these shine as a testament to their unwavering commitment to fostering hope and creating opportunities for youth. For the children who walked away with gifts and beaming smiles, the day was nothing short of magical—a celebration of their potential and the bright futures ahead.
