Dear Monsignor Sullivan,
From all of us at Catholic Charities of New York and our Board of Trustees, thank you.
Thank you, Monsignor Sullivan, for your more than 25 years of extraordinary leadership, vision, and unwavering dedication to our mission of providing help and creating hope.
You guided Catholic Charities through some of New York’s times of greatest need — September 11, Superstorm Sandy, the COVID-19 pandemic — and ensured that our doors remained open to serve the most vulnerable. You championed immigrants and refugees, expanded affordable housing, distributed food to hungry New Yorkers, and reminded us always of the dignity of every person. Under your leadership, Catholic Charities became not only a safety net, but also a beacon of hope, partnership, and compassion for all.
We are grateful for the countless lives touched, the staff and volunteers you inspired, and the faith-filled example you set for our community. Your legacy will live on in every act of kindness, in every neighbor we serve, and in every partner who joins us in this mission.
To celebrate this remarkable legacy, we invite everyone to watch a special tribute video honoring Monsignor Sullivan’s life of service and leadership.
While we will deeply miss your daily leadership, we are comforted knowing you will continue as Executive Director Emeritus and remain part of our Catholic Charities family.
With gratitude,
Your Catholic Charities Team
