Catholic Charities – Furloughed Government Employee Relief Initiative

2025-Furloughed-Government-Employee-Relief

Standing Together in Times of Uncertainty

When government employees face unexpected furloughs, the impact can be immediate and deeply stressful. Sudden income loss can make it hard to cover rent, food, utilities, and other essentials. At Catholic Charities of New York, we’re here to help.

We’ve launched a one-time, rapid-response relief initiative to provide immediate support that may be available for certain furloughed government workers and their families. Certain restrictions may apply.

Through the generosity of private donors, Catholic Charities is dedicating emergency aid to assist those most affected — offering both short-term relief and connections to long-term resources that promote stability and hope.

“Catholic Charities stands with furloughed government employees and their families. This one-time support will offer immediate relief and a pathway to resources for ongoing stability,” said J. Antonio Fernández, CEO of Catholic Charities of New York.

How We Can Help

Eligible government employees may receive one-time assistance to help cover immediate essential needs.

Each applicant may also be connected to additional Catholic Charities programs for ongoing support, from food and housing assistance to workforce development and counseling services.

Who Is Eligible

Relief assistance may be available for furloughed local, state, or federal government employees who live or work within the New York City area. Certain restrictions may apply.

To qualify, individuals must provide:

  • A valid government-issued photo ID
  • A furlough notice
