Turn Your Compassion into Action for Children and Families in Need

Catholic Charities of New York is marking this year’s Giving Tuesday on December 2nd with an urgent appeal to support families across New York who continue to struggle to meet basic needs. With rising food prices and the lingering effects of recent disruptions to SNAP benefits, many households are experiencing heightened financial strain. As a result, demand for Catholic Charities’ food pantries, meal programs, and emergency services has grown significantly.

Across New York City, children are especially vulnerable — with 1 in 4 children experiencing food insecurity. For families already living on the edge, even small increases in food costs or gaps in assistance can quickly lead to crisis. Catholic Charities works to bridge these gaps, helping families access nutritious food, financial aid, and other essential services with dignity, respect, and compassion.

To meet this growing need, Catholic Charities is launching a $50,000 Giving Tuesday Match Challenge, in which all gifts made today will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of each contribution. Every matched donation will support vital programs that help stabilize families and bring hope to communities across New York.

“On Giving Tuesday, I invite you to turn your compassion into action,” said J. Antonio Fernández, CEO of Catholic Charities of New York. “When you give today, your generosity is doubled — allowing us to reach more families, feed more children, and offer a lifeline to our neighbors who need us most. Together, we can bring dignity, hope, and relief to thousands across New York.”

We encourage our compassionate community to join the Giving Tuesday Match Challenge and help us reach our $50,000 goal. Every matched gift will make an immediate and meaningful difference for families who are counting on the support of a caring community. Please give now.
