New Hope Manor was founded as a ministry of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. Father Daniel Egan helped formally establish New Hope Manor in 1970. It is New York State’s first all-female, residential substance-abuse treatment center.

The Dominican Sisters of Sparkill teamed with Fr. Egan along with other religious orders and lay persons to serve as volunteers and fulltime ministers. Today a nonprofit, nondenominational organization, New Hope Manor helps its residents overcome substance abuse and rebuild their lives while offering a wide range of services for children in residence. Educational services include high school diplomas through local school districts, a G.E.D. program, vocational services and onsite college courses under the accreditation of Marist College.
