Catholic Kolping Society

Services Provided:
Temporary Residences

This Society was originally founded in Germany by the Blessed Adolf Kolping, a priest who was beatified in 1991 by Pope John Paul II. Its New York branch began in 1888 in the lower hall of the Church of St. Mary Magdalen on East 17 St. in Manhattan.

It now offers a residence for young men in Manhattan and one for young men and women in the Bronx. It also offers a residence for retired men and women in the Bronx and a summer retreat for members and their families along the banks of the Hudson River in northern Westchester County. Residences, including private rooms and chapels where Masses are celebrated, are directed toward the family unit, always within the framework of the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church.
