The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York Junior Board shopped for 13 families in need at the Old Navy Store on Lexington and East 86th Street in Manhattan Nov. 19.
A total of 22 members purchased winter apparel and other items. The recipients were selected by Mercy Center in the Bronx, serving women and children, and Encore, an outreach for seniors in the Theatre District. Both are Catholic Charities’ agencies.
The Junior Board is comprised of young professionals dedicated to supporting the mission of Catholic Charities. They run fundraisers throughout the year, with a heavy emphasis on Christmas season generosity.
The Shopping Day was part of the St. Nicholas Project, which assists more than 6,000 needy families each Christmas season.
