We help individuals and families navigate the complex public and private systems to find temporary shelter. Some organizations can be reached through a central registry, and others can be contacted directly.

Our program provides homelessness prevention services for families and individuals facing imminent eviction. Caseworkers help individuals and families create comprehensive plans that respond to imminent emergencies and avoid future crises. They work with landlords, legal service providers, fellow community-based organizations, and financial management programs to provide affordable shelter and access rent subsidies and other government programs.

Individuals and families behind on rent and who have cases in housing court can also receive help with:

• Back rent
• Family eviction prevention housing subsidies
• Moving from New York City shelters to suitable apartments
• Housing court and other legal challenges
• Mediation with landlords

For 50 years Catholic Homes had built, sustained and upgraded affordable apartments for low income New Yorkers. Specific eligibility requirements must be met to qualify for these housing units. Our caseworkers can help guide you toward available affordable housing opportunities and those requiring a waiting list.

Catholic Charities provides support services and community engagement activities to the individuals and families in affordable apartments to help them thrive in their apartments.

We provide transitional housing that caters to youth, women, men, and families to help them rebuild their lives and find permanent homes.
