15th Annual Catholic Charities Gala Was a Great Success!

Catholic Charities 15th Annual Gala

Wednesday June 5th was a night to remember as Catholic Charities hosted its 15th Annual Gala at the iconic American Museum of Natural History. The atmosphere was filled with hope and excitement as we came together to make a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors in need.

The special celebration brought together over 500 influential leaders from various sectors – business, arts, philanthropy, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations – all united by a common goal: to support Catholic Charities in their mission to provide help and create hope. The emcee for the evening was award winning NBC 4 New York Consumer Reporter, Lynda Baquero.

In recognition of their outstanding contributions, we had the privilege of honoring two exceptional individuals who have played a vital role in our community. Robert J. Giuffra, Jr., co-chair of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, and Richard J. Kramer, retired chairman and CEO of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Their dedication to service and commitment to realizing the mission of Catholic Charities inspired everyone in the room.

To add an extra touch of magic to the evening, we were treated to a mesmerizing musical performance by Lorna Courtney, a Tony Award nominated Broadway performer. Her soulful voice and captivating presence touched the hearts of all in attendance.

During the event, His Eminence Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan graced us with his presence, emphasizing the importance of Catholic Charities in fulfilling the Archdiocese’s mission of service to those in need. He highlighted the struggles faced by countless members of our communities, from the elderly struggling to put food on the table to families desperate for affordable housing. He shared that Catholic Charities truly provides a lifeline during these challenging times.

Thanks to the generous support of our honorees, trustees, sponsors and supporters, this event was a huge success. Funds raised will help us transform lives in tangible ways – from tutoring a fifth grader to finding suitable housing for a family with a disability or empowering teenagers with meaningful summer jobs, helping immigrants navigate the complexities of work authorization and providing meals to grandmothers who are caring for their beloved grandchildren.

All of this incredible work is also made possible thanks to the dedicated team at Catholic Charities of New York, led by Monsignor Kevin Sullivan, the Executive Director. “Their unwavering commitment to helping those in need is truly commendable. As we reflect on this memorable evening, we are filled with a renewed sense of purpose and determination. Together, we will continue to have a profound impact on the lives of New Yorkers and play a crucial role in a caring New York for all.”
