Every day, families across New York face challenges that make it difficult to meet their basic needs, from rising housing and food costs to accessing essential resources for their children. Having a welcoming place to turn for support can make a meaningful difference.
At Catholic Charities of New York, the Cardinal Spellman Center in the East Village is helping neighbors find stability, connection, and hope.
Our 2026 Fall Impact Report highlights the revitalization of the Cardinal Spellman Center and how its expanding programs are strengthening the community. From providing nutritious food and essential baby supplies to helping families secure stable housing, the Center is creating new opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.
Inside the report, you’ll discover:
• A mother’s inspiring journey toward stability, and how compassionate case management helped her and her young son find a place to call home.
• How families with young children are receiving essential support, with the Mothers & Babies Boutique serving approximately 200 families each month.
• How Project Cool is helping older New Yorkers, providing free fans during the summer months while connecting them with additional resources and services.
You’ll also see how the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and community partners makes this work possible. Together, these stories demonstrate how investing in neighborhood community centers can transform lives and strengthen communities.
Because of your support, neighbors in need are finding help, hope, and a renewed sense of belonging. Thank you for standing with us in compassion and care.
