TD BANK TO HOLD DAY OF SERVICE VOLUNTEERING WITH CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF NEW YORK ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 18 IN HARLEM STARTING AT 10:00 AM

On Thursday, January 18th TD Bank will be hosting their annual Day of Service, volunteering with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York in Harlem starting at 10:00 am. The event, taking place at Catholic Charities Community Services Kennedy Center, will have over 125 TD Bank employees partnering with Catholic Charities to work on various projects which will benefit New Yorkers in need.

Teams of volunteers will work to create –

  • No-Sew Blankets – The devastating effects of Hurricanes Harvey and Maria have left many Texans and Puerto Ricans with no choice but to evacuate from their homes. New York has seen an influx of hurricane evacuees, with many staying in shelters or FEMA residences.  Many families do not have warm blankets this winter.
  • Toiletry Kits – Toiletry kits are always greatly appreciated and in high demand – from hurricane evacuees, to refugees who have newly arrived in the U.S., to homeless living in shelters and families facing eviction, and everyone in between. A simple kit filled with every day necessities can make a world of difference for many New Yorkers in need.
  • Newborn Baby Kits for Struggling Mothers – Many new mothers struggle to afford necessities to help care for their children. And with winter in full force, mothers will be grateful for an extra blanket to keep their children warm. A newborn baby kit filled with diapers and a handmade no-sew fleece blanket.
  • Winter Protection Kits for Puerto Rican Evacuees and Struggling Families – As New York faces one of its coldest winters, hurricane evacuees and New Yorkers struggle to stay warm. These needy individuals are often without basic winter necessities, including socks, hats or gloves. With your help and generous donation, these winter kits will be used to help 500 individuals stay safe this winter.
  • Cards – Share words of encouragement or positivity for individuals and families to accompany your kits. Let needy New Yorkers know that they are cared for and thought of, wish them good fortune in the New Year, or let them know they are loved as we reach Valentine’s Day.

This event is just one example of how Catholic Charities collaborates with non-Catholic and Catholic partners to build a compassionate and just society. Catholic Charities delivers, coordinates, and advocates for quality human services and programs touching almost every human need.
