There’s no denying that our immigrant brothers and sisters who are looking for a better life in America are under threat. Whether documented or not, every person needs to know what their legal rights are. Do you know what your rights are when…

  • Someone knocks on your door demanding to enter? Even the police?
  • Someone asks you a question about your immigration status? Even an Immigration agent?
  • You’ve been pulled over in your car for a traffic violation? Even it’s a State Trooper?
  • Someone calls the police on you? How do you comply with the law? What are your legal rights?

I’ve lived in New York City for over 50 years and I’m not sure I know my rights in those situations.

That is why Catholic Charities and Telemundo are joining forces to create a phone bank on July 29, 2019. This phone bank will also be televised on Telemundo so that even those who do not call in can learn from the questions of others.

If you have questions about your rights should you encounter ICE agents, or need an immigration referral to non-profit legal services, please call the hotline: 1-800-566-7636.

Would you like to volunteer? Here’s what you need to know.

WHEN IS THE EVENT? Monday, July 29 from 4 - 8 PM (mandatory)
WHERE IS THE EVENT? 80 Maiden Lane (Manhattan)
WHAT KIND OF HELP DO WE NEED? Spanish-English bilingual speakers strongly preferred. Immigration and legal experience are not required; training and materials will be provided.

Attorneys and those familiar with immigration law are encouraged to apply.

This is a televised event -- if you are interested in volunteering, but do not want to be on camera, we can make other arrangements.

Catholic Charities of New York thank you, Telemundo thanks you, and your neighbors thank you.
