Caritas Award Honorees Have Been Chosen - Hudson Valley

GOSHEN - Dr. Dean Scher, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County (CCCSOC), and Board Chair Susan Murray-Tetz are pleased to announce the names of the 2015 Caritas Award honorees. 

The 2015 Caritas Award honorees are: 

- Sister Yliana Hernandez, PBVM 

Principal, Nora Cronin Presentation Academy, Newburgh, NY 

- Father Mark Connell 

Executive Director, San Miguel Academy, Newburgh, NY 

- Amy Anderson-Winchell, LCSW 

Chief Executive Officer, Access: Supports for Living (previously Occupations, Inc.), Middletown, NY 

- Frank P. Giordano Jr. 

Judelson, Giordano & Siegel, CPA, PC, Middletown, NY 

- Employees of DSS and CCCSOC Housing Resource Center

The awards will be presented at Catholic Charities’ 9th annual Celebration of Charity dinner on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Anthony’s Pier 9. 

The Caritas Award is presented by Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County each year to members of the community who exemplify the non-profit human service agency’s mission to provide help and create hope. 

"We are delighted to announce the names of the 2015 Caritas Award honorees," said Ms. Murray-Tetz. "Each of these honorees shares Catholic Charities’ commitment to our community. They have demonstrated their dedication and service to the people of Orange County, not just with words, but with actions and a desire to make a difference in the lives of others," added Ms. Murray-Tetz. 

Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County is an integral part of the care delivery system for Orange County. Services include chemical dependency clinics for those suffering from the disease of addiction and prevention programs for youth and adults, as well as case management and a housing resource center to provide support to those facing issues of homelessness, hunger, and destitution. Last year, Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County served more than 24,000 individuals and families, regardless of race, religion, or ability to pay. 

"Catholic Charities touches the lives of those in Orange County who are in need of care, hope, and help," said Dr. Scher. "It is thanks to collaboration and support from people like these honorees that we are able to be successful in the work that we do. We look forward to recognizing them for their contributions at the dinner in March. Congratulations to each of the 2015 Caritas award honorees," added Dr. Scher. 

The 9th annual Celebration of Charity will be held Thursday, March 26 at Anthony’s Pier 9. The event starts at 5:30 pm with a social hour and silent auction, followed by a sit-down dinner and award ceremony.
