The Senior Manager of Digital Fundraising and Direct Mail is responsible for the implementation and operational management of the fundraising and stewardship strategies for Catholic Charities Digital Fundraising and Direct Mail programs, including interacting with vendors in carrying out the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Digital Fundraising Management/Donor Relations:
• Drive campaign strategy, creation, and execution of digital fundraising campaigns, across all channels, to achieve acquisition, lead nurture, retention, cross-sell, and department revenue goals.
• Manage all aspects of program development, expansion, testing, optimization, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting for digital campaigns. Effectively collaborate with the entire Marketing/Communications and Development Team on the implementation of strategies related to fundraising via social and peer-to-peer online platforms.
• Conduct continuous testing, in-depth analysis, and optimization of campaigns, including creative assets, donation landing page quality, donor journey, lead and traffic quality, and campaign structure, etc.
• Monitor campaign performance and optimize as necessary to sustain metrics at or above industry benchmarks and best practices and meet agreed upon KPI objectives and goals by team. Produce and compile reports that track and analyze web statistics and online initiatives.
• Contribute to and execute an SEO and content strategy for Catholic Charities brand and across its digital properties including social media, email, and other digital advertising.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across segments and lines of business to develop, implement, and monitor programs throughout the donor journey.
• Keep current on platform updates and digital development trends to assist with maximizing opportunities for our development efforts. Research and analyze social media and digital fundraising trends and apply appropriately to drive critical Catholic Charities objectives.
• Ensure cross promotion and optimized marketing of Planned Giving, IRA, CGA, DAF, and Stock revenue channels through direct mail and digital channels.
• Partner with other digital marketing team members to ensure consistent messaging and outreach strategies between development and marketing goals. Assist in the management of relationships with third-party partners.

Direct Mail Management/Print Collateral Materials:
• Responsible for the development and implementation of a robust, integrated, and multi-channel development plan (including print, digital and email channels). Contribute to copywriting and copy-editing of development materials, particularly, but not exclusively, related to direct mail and digital fundraising. Gather and provide photos, program statistics, and client stories for appeals. Proof emails and review brief drafts for all direct mail creatives.
• Oversee and manage all direct mail, digital communication, and analytical donor data requests to the Donor Database Center of the Archdiocese of New York.
• Review and oversee e-appeals, landing page design, tools and graphics for online fundraising activities, including donation forms in preparation for final approval from the Director of Institutional Funding and Donor Relations.
• Monitor, analyze and report on the activities and performance of direct mail and digital fundraising in accord with departmental protocols.
• Execute agency and departmental direct mail and digital fundraising strategies for acquiring, retaining, and upgrading donors and other tactics to achieve annual revenue goals.
• Contribute to the creation and production of development fundraising materials, including donor brochures, annual reports, impact reports, Easter and Christmas holiday cards and donor proposals.
• Contribute to copywriting and copy-editing of development materials, particularly, but not exclusively, related to direct mail and digital fundraising, including the content for these materials from program teams.
• Keep abreast of industry best practices and trends occurring in direct mail, digital fundraising, and nonprofit technology and make accompanying recommendations that will benefit the department.

Qualifications
Education and/or experience required:
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred and at least three-to-five years’ direct mail and digital fundraising experience, including experience implementing fundraising appeals to a large audience either online or via mail.
• Strong managerial and project management skills. Ability to manage tasks and workflow and work with outside vendors to meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and apply social media strategies, trends and technologies (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign) for digital publishing.
• Proven ability to create a climate of confidence and trust on the part of donors.
• Ability to manage projects involving multiple stakeholders through several rounds of review, from concept to execution.
• Self-Starter with ability to work well autonomously and in collaboration with others.
• Proven ability to work well with teams in complex situations and to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:
• Proficiency of Microsoft Office, database programs and online research tools, such as Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, RENXT, Luminate, other eCRM platforms and managing information systems with a multi-user environment is required.
• Experience in the development, writing, and creation of presentation materials.
• A strategic thinker with superior communication, interpersonal, relationship management and organizational skills.
• Previous development/advancement experience within a large institutional environment is a plus.
• Results-oriented development strategist who thrives in a fast-paced complex fundraising environment and adapts easily to change.
• Excellent organizational skills, impeccable judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities/projects and meet deadlines.
• A team-oriented, collaborative style and strong work ethic.
• Familiarity with a variety of resources related to social and peer-to-peer fundraising such as Facebook, twitter, mobile text-to-pledge. etc.
• A self-starter with a sense of urgency and a clear set of priorities.
• Personal commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities and ability to participate in agency/community events.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday – Friday. Please note that additional night and weekend hours will be required to meet deadlines and attend events.

  • Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer at least 50% of the time
  • Ambulate and/or remain in a stationary position at seminars, events, fundraisers etc.
  • Travel for outreach, events and meetings at least 30% of the time using vehicle or public transportation, traverse city streets, ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Move and transport documents, objects, and other event materials
  • Engage with the public in social environments
  • Work under demanding conditions such as deadlines and project challenges

 

COVID-19 Adjustment: Position will be onboarded virtually. Potential to orient to the physical office space in person depending on
CDC and agency requirements at the time of onboarding. Updates to protocol are implemented on a regular basis.
