Summary: This position provides managerial support to the HomeBase Program Director, and oversees the implementation of the Homebase Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Direct supervision of staff located at the Homebase site in coordination with the Homebased Program Director.
  • Serves as liaison between CCCS and the NYC Department of Homeless Services, in matters related to reporting requirements and general program compliance.
  • Provides support to the Case Managers in their homelessness prevention efforts, in matters related to the provision of case management and mediation services, job training and development, Housing Court, landlord-tenant regulations, and public entitlements.
  • Provides training to current and newly hired case managers in matters related to case management, particularly in those areas relating to public benefits and homelessness prevention in general.
  • Planning and supervision of all advocacy aspects of the Community-based Homelessness Prevention Services Program (Homebase)

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday – Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines, or client needs.

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • To conduct home visits and outreach within NYC at least 50% of the time, individuals will use public transportation or traverse city streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs,
    and be exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Ability to work with the public.
  • Ability to position boxes/items at different levels that weigh up to 25 lbs.
  • Remain stationary at a workstation and use a computer at least 50% of the time.
  • Potential to carry a laptop to offsite work locations.

Qualifications
Education and/or experience required:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in social services, particularly in the homelessness prevention field.
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of social service delivery systems
  • Knowledge of City resources, good organizational, time- management and communication skills.
  • Individual must possess the ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.

COVID-19 Adjustment: Position will be onboarded virtually. Potential to orient to the physical office space in person depending on CDC and agency requirements at the time of onboarding. Updates to protocol are implemented on a regular basis.
