Reports to: Program Manager 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Summary: The FP Coordinator/Case Manager is part of the Feed Our Neighbors Department and works closely with Case Management team to ensure that visitors to the food pantry have access to a broad range of services. This position will be responsible for the coordination of the food pantry program, provide Case Management services, oversee the supervision of staff and volunteer and the conduct outreach and develop collaborative relationships with St. Augustine Parish leadership and local community organizations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Oversees all aspects of the operations of the St. Augustine Food Pantry Program;

            a.  Order food for pantry, monitor nutritional content, inventory, and weekly deliveries

            b.  Comply with food safety/food handling guidelines

            c.  Monitoring spending allocation from various funding sources

            d.  Ensure that all clients are properly register for program every year

            e.  Coordinate special events with FON leadership as requested

            f.   Work closely with FON staff, Program Manager, Directors and other to provide quality service

  • Oversees a large group of volunteers and supervises several pantry staff to ensure proper execution of tasks and customer service, attend to morale and develops team building strategies.
  • Manages client data input and provides statistics or report to the FON Director.
  • Provides crisis intervention to all community residents, individuals and families facing emergencies around shelter, food, clothing, utilities and other basic needs.
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments and develops a service plan with a small number of clients in need of more intensive Case Management and provides Information and Referral (I and R) to those who make inquiries about straightforward service needs.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the complex social service system and helps clients navigate these systems accordingly.
  • Provides referrals to Catholic Charities programs and outside agencies in order to address the need for additional and/or ongoing assistance (in addition to SNAP).
  • Provides follow-up to ensure that stability has been maintained and/or referrals have been sustained.
  • Enters all information in the Outcomes Management Information System in a timely and efficient manner, and meets Catholic Charities program deliverables.
  • Completes paper work requirements and gathers documentation regarding requests for financial assistance.
  • Actively participates in weekly supervision and _monthly staff meetings, FON trainings, and other agency­related activities.
  • Assists at other sites as needed in Manhattan and the Bronx
  • Comply with all other requests and tasks as assigned by Director and/or Supervisor

Working conditions and physical demands: 

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • May need to travel for home visits, outreach, staff meetings and/or escorting clients at least 10% of the time using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • May need to traverse neighborhoods that may require a high level of alertness and awareness of surroundings.
  • Work with clients who require consistent and comprehensive support, some under potentially stressful conditions.
  • Remain in a stationary position at a work station and use a computer approximately 30% of the time.
  • Assist with moving boxes, packing and carry food pantry bags, approximately 60% of the time.


Education and/or experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree required with at least three years of experience in the social services field.
  • Blingual, Spanish-English preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in the areas of food services
  • At least three years of employment supervision and evaluation​

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of social service delivery systems and local resources
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and communication skills.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.​
