Summary: The Outreach Coordinator will join Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) as part of a coordinated citywide initiative, ActionNYC, which will reach immigrant communities across New York City to connect individuals to free immigration legal consultations, document preparation, and application assistance. The Outreach Coordinator will help deepen, enhance, and expand community outreach and referrals for immigrant students and their families at a select number of DOE Schools. The Outreach Coordinator will support operational and case management needs, including data entry into various tracking systems for appointments and referrals, placements and outcomes; service event coordination, including: scheduling clients based on capacity, reserving requisite space, and supplies preparation; as well as prepare and deliver presentations on various immigration related topics. The Outreach Coordinator will plan and oversee the Outreach Organizers' outreach tasks, including presentations, appointment scheduling, attendee confirmations, as well as rescheduling needs, and ensure deliverables are met. The Outreach Coordinator will also provide immigration services under attorney and accredited representative supervision, including consultations, application assistance, and necessary follow-up services, and work towards DOJ partial accreditation. This position is ideal for an individual who is committed to the mission of serving immigrant families and someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven track record of handling multiple deadlines that require detail-oriented focus and execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Under the supervision of the Community Engagement Manager, plan and coordinate an outreach strategy to select DOE schools.
  • Under the supervision of the Community Engagement Manager, assign metrics and workplans for Outreach
  • Organizers.
  • Supervise the work of Outreach Organizers and adapt as necessary.
  • Build relationships with key staff at select DOE schools to ensure close to full capacity clinics/services.
  • Develop and distribute trainings, presentation and outreach materials, and relevant communications, to school and ActionNYC staff.
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for outreach and appointments for ActionNYC remote and in- person clinic.
  • Prepare for and conduct presentations, workshops and outreach events on various immigration topics.
  • Preparation and distribution of materials and resources for all ANYC outreach services, including Know Your Rights events
  • Under the supervision of an attorney and/or accredited representative, prepare, review, complete, submit, and follow-up on applications in routine types of immigration matters, including but not limited to: relative petitions, naturalization applications, adjustment of status applications, applications for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), employment authorization applications, green card replacement applications, nonimmigrant visa extension and change of status applications, etc.
  • Provide referrals for wraparound services.
  • Provide a system for communication with schools about results of student consults, while maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Create and maintain physical and electronic files, including managing correspondence with clients and documenting correspondence with immigration and other agencies.
  • Manage data entry in internal (LLX) and external data management systems (as designated by ActionNYC) and assist with generating reports.
  • Maintain and report statistical data as required.
  • Assist with the training of new staff.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position that will require working part-time at rotating Community Schools as well as conducting street outreach, when necessary. The remaining time will be spent performing case work at CCCS’ office. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday. Position requires willingness to travel to all five (5) boroughs and availability to work some weekend and evening hours. Additional hours may be required to meet case-related and/or program deadlines, or client needs.

  • Travel at least 50% of the time using public transportation or vehicle, traverse city streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Remain stationary at a workstation, in meetings, and use a computer at least 50% of the time.
  • Remain stationary and/or ambulate to instruct and monitor during trainings and presentations.
  • Carry a laptop to offsite work locations.


Education and/or experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent professional training related to the position.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  • Bilingual: English plus a 2nd language.
  • Ability to manage high-volume communication and priorities for a fast-paced project.
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks at once.
  • Ability and experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly organized.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, administrative, communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to convene and lead meetings.
  • Ability to work both independently and in highly collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to travel to all five (5) boroughs and to work part-time on location at schools.
  • Availability and readiness to work some weekend and evening hours.
  • A plus, but not required:
    • Experience working as an immigration legal administrative assistant or advocate
    • Demonstrated a commitment to social justice issues and experience working in a school-based non-profit or community setting, particularly in an outreach or organizing capacity.
