Summary: The College Intern position is a professional opportunity for college students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree to gain insight and work within the Communications & Marketing Department.  This internship is meant to expose college students to the full breadth of jobs and opportunities within the nonprofit sector as a general marketer. This is an exciting opportunity for a college student (junior/senior year preferred) or recent graduate looking to gain some real world experience. This internship is available starting in September.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design clear engaging graphic communications for print and web, including e-mail pieces, branded promotional items, website and social media graphics, posters, flyers, and other marketing materials as needed
  • Work closely with the team to translate our messaging concepts into marketing materials
  • Draft communications including content for blogs, websites, email and social media
  • Support competitive research
  • Participate in marketing campaign creation and execution
  • Resize and edit photos into different formats and sizes for the web and print materials. 
  • Support blog and all social media channels with graphic identities (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Instagram)
  • Coordinate with Marketing to create and/or shoot images for social media posts


  • Junior or Senior in College currently studying in Graphic Design/Communication Design major in Bachelor degree (BA or BS)
  • This is not a virtual placement; the person needs to be in New York City
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and confidence
  • Knowledgeable about various social distribution platforms, among them Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Passionate about marketing, technology, and familiar with digital trends
  • Experience working with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Experience working with video and photo editing software (iMovie, Final Cut or Adobe Premier) is a plus
  • Ability to shoot video and photographs with a DSLR Camera


The college intern must be physically present in the NYC Communications & Marketing Office, able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff, and be able to multi-task. The intern is expected to work approximately 15-20 hours per week. Flexible from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We will work with your class schedule! This is a paid Internship.
