Summary: The Graphic and Digital Designer position is a professional opportunity for a freelance worker with at least a Bachelor’s degree. We are looking for a detail­-oriented Graphic and Digital Designer to work on internal and external projects that will touch thousands of New Yorkers. Even though this is a part-time opportunity, it is a high visibility role that will have a significant impact on the future of branding and design at Catholic Charities of NY.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design clear and engaging graphic communications for print and web, including e-mail pieces, branded promotional items, website and social media graphics, posters, flyers, and other marketing materials as needed
  • Work closely with the team to translate our messaging concepts into marketing materials
  • Draft communications including content for blogs, websites, email and social media
  • Participate in marketing campaign creation and execution
  • Resize and edit photos into different formats and sizes for the web and print materials. 
  • Support blog and all social media channels with graphic identities (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram)
  • Coordinate with Marketing to create and/or photograph images for social media posts


  • Graphic Design/Communication Design major in Bachelor degree (BA or BS)
  • This is not a virtual placement; the person needs to be in New York City
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience working with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and confidence
  • Knowledgeable about various social distribution platforms, among them Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Passionate about technology and familiar with digital trends
  • Experience working with video and photo editing software (iMovie, Final Cut or Adobe Premier) is a plus
  • Ability to shoot video and photographs with a DSLR Camera


The Graphic and Digital Designer must be physically present in the NYC Communications & Marketing Office, able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff, and be able to multi-task. The freelancer is expected to work approximately 15-20 hours per week from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
