Job Title: ESOL Instructor  

FLSA Status: Part Time - Non-Exempt 

Department: Immigrant and Refugee Resettlement 

Reports to: Director of Programs

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Summary: The ESOL Instructor will teach a daily ESOL/Citizenship class for high beginner and/or low intermediate students. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Create and deliver daily ESOL/Citizenship classes for students.
  • Assist with student enrollment, testing, and retention. Meet with students outside of class as necessary.
  • Provide general program support for the Center. Includes conducting new student orientation, assisting with registration, and maintaining student registration files.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a part-time position. Morning classes are held from 9:30 am - 11:30 am and afternoon classes from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm. Other hours may be required, depending on student need.

  • Remain stationary and/or ambulate for the duration of instruction and presentations, addressing and/or monitoring students at least 40% of the time.

Qualifications: 

Education and/or experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, ESOL or related field
  • Previous experience working with diverse, vulnerable populations.
  • Familiarity with the BEST Plus
  • Experience with community outreach a plus.​

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies: 

  • Highly motivated and self-starter.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy (expertise with Office Suite and social media).
