Supervisory Responsibilities:



Summary: The Director of Operations position will provide a high level of coordination that will help enhance service delivery across the diverse programs within the COS Division. In the absence of the Division Director, the Director of Operations will be responsible for overall supervision and management of the COS Division.

Some of the projects that this position will be responsible for include but not limited to: the FON Campaign, the St. Nicholas Project, the Financial Literacy program, the New York Times Campaign, etc. The Director of Operations will be expected to attend various program and budget meetings and participate in discussions related to increased efficiencies in program management.

Administrative Operations: The coordination of programmatic administrative assignments will allow for each Program Areas to build on their capacity to serve and to focus their time on achieving set goals.

Project Management: The coordination of special events and/or initiatives will allow for a more concerted effort by Program Areas to participate in events, share common experiences, and leverage resources to enhance impact.

Program Support: The coordination of program activities will help to ensure alignment of goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work closely with COS Division Director to manage and support all new and existing COS programs;
  • Work closely with Program Directors and program staff under the COS Division on various assignments;
  • Collaborate with the COS Administrative Assistant on tasks, projects and assignments as needed;
  • Assist with the management of program services, operations, and personnel for the COS Division;
  • Assist with the procurement and management of government contracts, work scopes, reports and budgets;
  • Review reports, proposals, concept papers, or any program documentation to be considered for approval;
  • Work closely with Database Manager in monitoring, collecting, reporting and analyzing data and trends;
  • Assist the Division Director with preparing quarterly Board reports, materials and presentations;
  • Assist the Division Director and Program Directors during the annual CCCS budget process;
  • Work closely with fiscal on budget reports, modifications, reconciliations, etc. considered for approval;
  • Plan, prepare, execute and monitor progress of special events including handling logistics and goals;
  • Provide clear communication with all stakeholders to keep them informed of updates or developments;
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly meetings with Directors, Board of Directors, committees, staff, etc.
  • Represent COS Division and CCCS at various internal and external meetings, as needed;
  • Work with other CC/CCCS personnel including Executive Director, Senior Management, HR, Fiscal, Facilities, Contracts Management, Development, Government Relations, Agency Relations, etc.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday. Evenings, weekends and occasional Holidays hours will be required to meet program deadlines, or client needs.

  • Travel for special event, site visits or meetings using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Work with clients who require consistent and comprehensive support, some under potentially stressful conditions.
  • Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer approximately 50% of the time.


Education and/or experience required:

  • Master’s Degree in Public Administration or other related social service field
  • 4 years’ experience in Program Management
  • 4 years’ experience in Operations Management

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Strong interpersonal and managerial skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects involving key stakeholders
  • Ability to work proactively, independently but also as part of a team.
  • Ability to be creative, enthusiastic, and a self-starter
