Position Title: Director of Data Management & Analysis

Position Summary 

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of NY (CCNY) is looking for a manager to support and oversee a new Catholic Charities Data Management Office. This strategic position provides a critical leadership role at CCNY by planning, developing and managing a more integrated, coordinated and effective system to collect, analyze and use data for enhancing program effectiveness and awareness. 


Project Leadership and Management

  • Lead the CCDMO core and extended team working with internal stakeholders and outside consultants/vendors to establish CCDMO; work with IT staff to maintain efficient and secure operations of CCDMO system architecture; Create and maintain project plans and schedules for the ongoing development and maintenance of all database system projects; Provide ongoing support for current data management systems while new systems are being researched, planned and implemented; and advise Senior Management regarding related aspects of the technology strategy; participate in the budgeting process

Internal Coordination/Support

  • Collaborate with Senior Management & Division Directors and staff to produce functional as well as detail design specifications to meet new and existing CCDMO requirements and provide day to day production support; Monitor user adoption rates and respond as needed (additional training sessions, communication, modifications, or other resources) to improve rates; Assist users with report design and management; Design database reports/extracts as required using SQL and data visualization tools as needed 

Data Management Plan Design

  • Develop, establish an agenda for, and lead a data operations working group for knowledge sharing and to set data policy and standards. Ensure that all organizational data management needs are met, and effective processes are designed for acquiring, cleaning, and integrating external and internally generated data; Responsible for standardization and documentation of data entry procedures, Develop and maintain user/system procedures and documentation for all backend database processes


Quality Assurance & Data Integrity

  • Manage all database maintenance and product/data mart output support; Manage all quality assurance testing of components of the CCDMO environment; Management of security, users, roles, profiles, groups, sharing rules and other setup options; Management and prioritization of ongoing support requests and administrative needs of users; Develop and frequently use quality control reports, dashboards, and processes to continuously monitor data quality and integrity; Identify areas for process improvement and implement solution
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned

  • Remain stationary at a work station and/or using a computer at least 70% of the time.
  • Ability to greet and engage with employees, vendors, and occasionally with constituents, the public and diverse people.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment i.e. copier, fax, scanner, computer and printer.
  • Ability to use and respond to phone calls and questions.
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand to retrieve employee documents in cabinets.


  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science/Database Management
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years' data management experience preferably within a data and database management team.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of relational database principles and experience with both transactional and data warehouse designs and structures.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of Human Services sector and Not for Profit corporations.
  • Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter, with excellent communication skills, who works well  independently;
  • Ability to work as an engaged team member with a customer service perspective with a variety of managers, staff and consultants.
  • Disposition to learn about new developments in CCDM
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Software Skills 

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Microsoft Windows platforms (e.g., C#/.NET, SQL Server, SSIS, SSQS, SSRS and a thorough knowledge of SQL required
  • Data Visualization tools like MS BI and Tableau
