Job Title: Case Management Supervisor

FLSA Status: Full Time - Exempt

Reports to: Senior Director of Case Management

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Summary: The Case Management Supervisor provides primary oversight to Case Management staff at the Central Office (and other sites as needed) including Case Managers, the Catholic Charities Helpline and Front Desk Staff. Administrative duties range from day to day operations to program development. This position helps develop and maintain benefits and resource expertise across a wide range of social services. The Case Management Supervisor ensures that all activities serve to uphold the highest standards of mission adherence and promotes a holistic and collaborative approach to service delivery. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Provides Individual and Group supervision that is strength's based and solution-focused.

  • Supervises staff using Social Work principles including engagement, assessment, planning, advocacy and follow-up.
  • Supervises Social Work interns as a field instructor or task supervisor.
  • Helps staff address concrete service needs and stabilize crises through the provision of goods and services.
  • Promotes the development and enhancement of benefits and resource expertise.
  • Assists staff in identifying clients in need of enhanced services leading toward self-sufficiency.
  • Provides oversight of specialized programs and seasonal projects.
  • Helps coordinate and co-leads staff meetings and assists in providing in-service trainings on best Case Management practices as part of an inter-disciplinary team.

Performs administrative duties

  • Provides quality assurance and oversight of the Catholic Charities Helpline and front desk.
  • Ensures that case managers meet department and/or contract deliverables.
  • Regularly monitors Data Management systems.
  • Monitors budgetary items including relief and office expenses.
  • Understands, fulfills and meets deadlines on all operational matters including requests for financial assistance, time sheets, performance reviews etc.

Direct Service:

  • Responsible for handling (either directly or through close supervision) challenging, complex, high profile and high risk cases.
  • Manages a case load of 10 clients and fulfills all requirements associated with handling cases.
  • Co-leads an Immigrant women's group and supports the development of similar groups in other Case Management programs.
  • Reinforces a philosophy of collaboration with community partners, Catholic Charities departments, Divisions, Affiliate agencies, and external providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working conditions and physical demands: 

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Travel 30% of the time using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Traverse neighborhoods that may require a high level of alertness and awareness of surroundings.
  • Interact with clients who require consistent and comprehensive support, some under potentially stressful conditions.
  • Remain in a stationary position at a work station and use a computer approximately 60% of the time.
  • Frequently sit for long periods attending meetings.
Qualifications: 

Education and/or experience: 

  • Master's degree in Social Work preferred or other comparable advanced degree with at least eight years of pertinent experience.
  • At least five years of management experience in the social services field.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or other relevant language preferred.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies: 

  • LMSW or LCSW (preferred) and SIFI Certified or eligible (if candidate is an MSW).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, capacity to shift gears quickly and manage a high-energy, high-paced, changing environment.
  • Possesses solid platform skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
  • Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of the social service resource network including the capacity to comprehend the nuances and changing policies and procedures associated with complex systems.
  • The ability to work well independently while being accountable, responsive and communicative.
