Supervisory Responsibilities:



Summary: The Assistant Program Director supports the Program Director in overseeing, coordinating, implementing and supervising comprehensive services to children, youth, and families at the Highbridge Gardens Cornerstone Community Center, as specified in DYCD contractual provisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the day-to-day supervision and implementation of activities, as well as special events, i.e. youth civic engagement projects and recruitment events.
  • Help monitor, report, plan and develop the program, and its activities, for participants ages 5-21 and their families.
  • Successfully implement the program and attain mandated outcomes.
  • Work with the Director to insure prompt submission of reports to both agency and funders.
  • Maintain participant files onsite, as well as enrollment and attendance online, and maintain DYCD Online System.
  • Co-facilitate all orientations conducted at the Center.
  • Attend monthly meetings and other trainings as needed.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Workdays and hours are Monday-Friday 2:00 pm – 10:00pm, Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, specific Holidays and School Breaks 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, and July – August 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm.

Working conditions and physical demands required:

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability and patience to work with children and young people, individually and in group settings.
  • Remain in a stationary position working at a computer at least 30% of the time.
  • Move for long periods, monitoring activities and providing supervision.
  • Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, traverse city streets, ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions, while escorting youth.


Education and/or experience required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with youth, or, an Associate Degree with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with youth.
  • At least two (2) years’ Supervisory experience.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and providing one on one peer mediation preferred.
  • Experience working with families who face exceptional challenges.
