Pulling out her vegetable spiralizer  and pushing up her sleeves, Chef Bianca Anderson transformed, for an afternoon, part of a Catholic Charities community center in Harlem into a personalized free health food fair for 30 of the hungry, poor folks we regularly serve.

If you’re hungry and need help, you’re not alone.  An astronomical 1.4 MILLION New Yorkers depend on food pantries and soup kitchens to survive.  That’s one out of every five New Yorkers. Older women.  Working families.  Veterans.  And, perhaps worst of all, little children. 

Catholic Charities NY is here for you.  Together our partners and parishes provide more than 5 million meals to hungry people each year.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY – ShopRite Supermarkets donated $96,500 to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York in support of the supermarket chain’s participation in the annual Archdiocesan-wide Feeding Our Neighbors food drive in its Hudson Valley market area.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Christians marked Holy Thursday today, commemorates the day of the last supper the night before Jesus Christ was crucified.

At Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, many took part in prayer services to observe the sacred holiday.

Cardinal Dolan distributed food at Catholic Charities expanded St. Cecelia’s food pantry on Holy Thursday.

Clutching bags, carts and strollers, hundreds of hungry folks in East Harlem filled Catholic Charities NY’s newly expanded food pantry at St. Cecelia’s parish hall on Holy Thursday to receive free food for their families and Easter blessings from Cardinal Timothy Dolan.

The death last week of famed New York Mets baseball hero Rusty Staub, less well known but equally heroic for his generous initiatives to feed hungry New Yorkers, leaves a vacuum for all of us here at Catholic Charities. 

2018 Holy Thursday Food Pantry Distribution with Cardinal Dolan

Cardinal Timothy Dolan will be coming to St. Cecilia’s new enhanced Food Pantry in East Harlem to give his blessing upon it and distribute food to pantry clients.

St. Cecilia’s Food Pantry has moved to a larger space and to a full client choice model, which will allow staff to serve more families healthier food choices.
