Northern Manhattan is changing. Long time residents are being displaced. Local businesses close down. Rents are too damn high. People’s Theatre Project’s troupe of adult community actors of diverse backgrounds kick off the festival with a dynamic theatrical piece exploring the changing face of our community.

100 community actors from uptown and across the city will take to the majestic stage of the United Palace Theatre to present a life-affirming night of art and inspiration. The event will feature performance highlights from People’s Theatre Project’s 2016-2017 season of collaborative theatre making in schools and community centers. Doors open at 6:30pm

Circle Up & To Be Heard perform

PTP’s youngest community actors perform original works that explore the dance, the rhythm and the comedy of power and oppression. The actors sound off on how the Trump presidency and cuts to arts programming affect their school system and hinder their creativity. The Saturday To Be Heard teen group will explore stories of home, it's histories and the impact of historical events on present day through movement, song, monologues and dialogue.
