NY Thanksgiving Blowouts; From Monster Trucks to Sit-Down Meals

Plus Last-Minute Thanksgiving Day Volunteer Opportunities!

Turkey-and-all-the trimmings delivered in Yonkers from the back of monster trucks and vintage cars. Blessings from Cardinal Dolan over turkey giveaways in Harlem.  Sit-down dinners for the hungry and homeless in Staten Island. And huge Thanksgiving blowouts in other local neighborhoods we serve. Plus, last-minute Thanksgiving Day volunteer opportunities.

All told, we will give away this week over one thousand five hundred (1,500!) turkeys and all the trimmings at events we sponsor throughout the Archdiocese of New York, from Staten Island to Sullivan County and on both sides of the Hudson River.

Clearly, making sure New Yorkers, regardless of religion, race or income, have wonderful Thanksgiving celebrations is an achievement in which Catholic Charities NY’s takes pride.

We do this thanks to a lot of help. Once again, the D’Urso family, former owners of Key Food, donated over 800 turkeys.  Precision Concierge New York donated another 100. Comité Noviembre organized a host of volunteers. And local Catholic schools and other organizations, companies and private donors tapped students and adults to contribute and volunteer.

And it’s not too late to help out this holiday.

For especially meaningful volunteer opportunities, we can use your help Thanksgiving Day!

We work hard to make sure our New York elderly who outlived friends and loved ones have a family they can turn to by spending Thanksgiving with us at our Catholic Charities NY affiliate, Encore Senior Center.

Easy to get there! Encore Senior Center is located in Midtown West, 239 W 49 St., NYC

Choose from two Thanksgiving Day Volunteer Opportunities:

  1. Please join us Thanksgiving day from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. as we decorate, prepare, and serve our elderly members their thanksgiving lunch and assist with clean up at end.
  2. Please help us provide holiday meals to our frail, isolated older members. We need your help cold-packing meals on Thanksgiving Day that will be delivered to homebound seniors this Saturday, November 24th.

To all who help us during the Thanksgiving season and throughout the year, thank you!

To all we are honored to serve, thank you!

We wish you and your families a wonderful holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving!
