No-Cost Preschool Assistance for Immigrant Children

Sign up and receive application help for FREE Pre-K programs for children ages three to four regardless of immigration status.  Applications for the upcoming school year are open now!

Thanks to Catholic Charities NY’s affiliate, LSA Family Health Service, immigrant families living in District 4 – mainly Harlem, E. Harlem, Morningside Heights and Randall’s Island – can receive FREE help with the entire enrollment process including:

  • One-on-one application assistance,
  • Follow-ups
  • School tours

LSA Family Health Service’s LIFE program (Linking Immigrant Families with Early Childhood Education) helps create a foundation for children’s future school success in school.

These free informational workshops

  • Walk parents through the enrollment process
  • Help families feel confident about the academic decisions they make for their children.

Public investments in early childhood education bring substantial returns in children’s educational trajectories and a more skilled future workforce, according to an Urban Institute analysis. Evidence also suggests that returns to early education may be larger for children of immigrants (defined as children with at least one parent born outside of the United States, including refugees) than for other children. Yet children of immigrants and of English language learners (ELLs) remain underrepresented in early education programs such as prekindergarten.

  • Born in 2015 or 2016

Every child in New York City has a right to public education, regardless of immigrant status or national origin.
