How Two Brothers Escaped Deportation

Two brothers who crossed the frontier to the United States alone two years ago shared their story of loss, fear and finally celebration last night on Telemundo TV.

"I'm so glad they had the courage to do this," says the mother they were finally able to join in New York City.

Close to seven million children from South and Central America that entered the U.S, like these brothers received deportation orders, Telemundo reports.

But these fortunate brothers, thanks, they say, to legal representation from Catholic Charities, recently won the grand prize, legal status in the United States.

"The most important message is don't miss any of your immigration appointments and go with legal representation," says Andrew Craycroft, the Catholic Charities attorney who represented the boys.  "Otherwise your case gets thrown out and you get a deportation order in your absence."
