Dear Friends,
Administration policies at our southern border recently caused the separation of thousands of children from their parents and families. After court intervention and changes in enforcement, many of those families were reunified and released and are now seeking to resettle in New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley.
Catholic Charities of New York has begun meeting with these families to coordinate case management and legal services support.
Should you be aware of a family in need, below is information for how they can get help.
How to Get Help
Catholic Charities is ensuring that each reunited family is connected with a case manager who can help them find stability in their new situation, make sure that children are enrolled in school, access food/clothing and health care resources, and find other appropriate community resources.
Catholic Charities also will provide reunited families with information about their legal rights and the immigration court process.
We offer the following services:
- Individual information sessions
- Know-your-rights sessions
- Assistance with Immigration Court applications and motions
- Pro bono and attorney referral
- Direct representation
Families seeking assistance can make an appointment by calling (315) 690-4831 or emailing ICH@archny.org. Please include your name, preferred language, location, and contact number(s). We will call to schedule an appointment.
Linked below are calendars and explanatory information in English and Spanish for the month of August including specific dates when our office will assist reunited families.
Catholic Charities is grateful for the help and hope you provide to immigrant families who are making a new home here in New York.
Thank you for your support.
