This past Sunday, I joined Cardinal Dolan, other faith and civic leaders, at Temple Emanu-el to express solidarity in the aftermath of the tragic hate-filled act of violence at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.

As a sign of solidarity and support, Catholic Charities has made a $10k donation to the UJA Pittsburgh Solidarity Fund.  I will personally deliver the grant check to the Chief Executive Officer of the UJA/Federation, Eric Goldstein on Monday. The relationship between the UJA/Federation and Catholic Charities is longstanding and our joint efforts and collaborations over many decades have benefited the people of New York in countless ways.

As the Jewish Community remains in the forefront of our thoughts and prayers in this tragic time, we fervently re-commit ourselves to seeing the image of God in every person, and nurturing respect for all.
