Crisis: Hundreds of Separated Immigrant Children Sent to NY

Urgent – Please Help

As I write today, thousands of children in our country remain separated from their parents. This is upsetting, heartbreaking, and absolutely unacceptable. This is not how we welcome newcomers in to this country.

Estimates are that 700 children separated from their families at the southern border have been sent to New York.  They need care and support, and they need it now. Catholic Charities is already helping, and we’re determined to do even more.

Catholic Charities runs the lead legal services organization addressing this crisis in New York. We are quickly diverting our very limited resources to protect these children and to work to reunite them with their parents, on top of the rest of our work to help newcomers find their way in America.

For over a century, we’ve worked to welcome immigrants and refugees, help them reunite with their families, obtain work authorization, learn English and civics, and stay safe and protected in their new homes. Now, in this current crisis, Catholic Charities is intensifying our efforts. I pray you’ll help.

May God bless you for relieving the suffering of our new neighbors and their children in need.

In solidarity,

Msgr. Kevin Sullivan

Executive Director

P.S. Matthew 25:40 reads, “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Please help us reunite these vulnerable children with their families and protect all immigrants and refugees seeking safety and opportunity. We can’t do it without you.
