And the Beginning for Esmeralda Hoscoy & Others Like Her in Making History

Shout it out, ladies!  Today is the last day of Women’s History Month and we have a lot to be proud of!  Here at Catholic Charities, our own Esmeralda Hoscoy, Regional Supervisor for Westchester County, was honored for her outstanding contributions she makes to the Yonkers community in lower Westchester County.

Assemblymember Shelley Mayer (D-Yonkers) chose Esmeralda as one of five outstanding women to honor at its premier Women’s History Month Celebration in Yonkers.  And for those of us lucky enough to know Esmeralda, her selection comes as no surprise. A born leader who inspires those around her, she helps facilitate the day laborers program Obreros Unidos along with an immigrant women’s sewing/empowerment group and a number of other programs that serve the immigrant community, priorities of Assemblywoman Mayer.

“This award is really an extension of the people I represent,” Esmeralda says, “not only the immigrants but also the outstanding work of Catholic Charities and our Yonkers staff.
