Monsignor Kevin Sullivan, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of The Archdiocese of New York, gives an update on Catholic Charities Services and our Affiliated Agencies amidst COVID-19.

One of our Catholic Charities New York agencies knew of the need for protective wear and reached out to one of their suppliers who was able to sell us over 4,000 pieces of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Catholic Charities.  Phil Dorian, Catholic Charities Senior Agency Relations Director and his staff coordinated the purchase and distribution of PPE to Catholic Charities affiliates and partners including Archcare.  CC agencies are providing essential services to those with developmental disabilities, mental health and chemical dependency challenges.  These residences require staff to be in daily contact with the residences and PPE is critical to ensuring their safety.  "I saw reassurance on the faces of staff from our Beacon of Hope division when they came to pick up PPE for their staff," said Msgr. Kevin Sullivan.

Catholic Charities of New York secured masks and around 2,000 gloves for 18 agencies and programs which will receive it this week. Yesterday 1,500 were distributed to our residential programs, group homes, maternity service programs, residential programs for the mentally ill, developmentally disabled, food pantries, Casita Maria, Encore Services (food delivery to seniors), congregate care facilities, supportive housing facilities, and Archcare.
