WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Those in Washington Heights and the Bronx who may be struggling during the coronavirus pandemic can pick up food Thursday and Friday from Catholic Charities.

The organization and its Alianza Youth Services branch will be handing out hundreds of bags of food in an effort to help seniors and Latinx communities that have been hit particularly hard during the pandemic.

Catholic Charities will give out 400 bags in Washington Heights each day and 300 and 200 bags in the two Bronx distributions. The food distribution adds to a list of ways the nonprofit has been helping the families they normally serve get through the crisis. Alianza in particular has bought tablets for students who did not have devices, helped families without internet get wifi hotspots in their homes and conducts daily wellness check-in calls to 3,500 students.

Catholic Charities is responding to the needs of our neighbors during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
