While scribbling shopping lists, choosing turkeys and inviting relatives for our upcoming Thanksgiving feasts, how can we best celebrate the meaning behind the name of this holiday?

Thankfully, this Sunday before Thanksgiving, November 19, the second collection at parishes throughout the New York Archdiocese will target funds for the Catholic Campaign for Charity and Justice.  Your gift is an expression of love and solidarity with the poor and marginalized. You are helping parishes and community organizations address the social structures that threaten the dignity of the human person by promoting justice for all.

“To love God and neighbor means seeing in every person the face of the Lord to be served.  And you are, dear brothers and sisters, the face of Jesus.”

-Pope Francis

Funds raised through this collection will support parish and community-based projects through grants that meet local needs, particularly those of our poor and vulnerable neighbors. Specifically, this special pre-Thanksgiving collection will provide grants to parishes and community-based groups to

  • Foster Human Dignity
  • Further Charity and Compassion
  • Advance Justice and Community Development

It’s easy to participate:

  • GIVE to the collection at Mass on November 18th or 19th or via our website at catholiccharitiesny.org/CCCJ
  • SEND your contribution by mail
ATTN: Catholic Charities Charity and Justice Campaign
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York
    1011 First Ave 7th Floor

  • PRAY for those vulnerable individuals and families who struggle to live out their human dignity

“This provides an important opportunity to reinforce engaging in acts of charity and justice as essential to living out our Catholic faith,” says Catholic Charities NY Executive Director Msgr. Kevin Sullivan.

Break the cycle of poverty and empower your parish to do more.
