Join Us in Harlem; Meet an Original Freedom Rider

Looking for the best FREE way to celebrate and honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.?

Join us at Catholic Charities NY’s Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Center in Harlem and meet Dr. Bernard, Lafayette, Jr., an original Freedom Rider who rode with Dr. King.  You can also meet with preachers, Imams, neighbors and, perhaps best of all, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center New York Support Group that successfully teamed with Coretta Scott King 40 years ago to make Dr. King’s birthday a national holiday.

Intergenerational, multicultural and welcoming to those of all faiths, this FREE Martin Luther King Jr. holiday celebration includes opportunities to get inspired, mingle and enjoy free refreshments with those who marched with Dr. King.

Yes; these are challenging times.  But as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said in his “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech just 30 hours before he was felled by an assassin’s bullets,

“Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.”

Join us this Monday, January 21st, Martin Luther King Jr. Day from 3 – 5 p.m. and see the stars:
