We Are Here for You!

Far too many evacuees forced to flee to New York from Hurricanes Maria and Irma that tore through Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in 2017 are still suffering.

  • Catholic Charities NY responded immediately, collecting and distributing needed funds and services while serving those who escaped to the safety of our shores.
  • Catholic Charities NY is now also launching a Disaster Case Management Program for these  hurricane evacuees who relocated to New York.

If you were directly affected by Hurricane Irma or Maria in either Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands and relocated to New York, please call our program pre-screening hotline at 347-941-1691 to get started.

  • Callers will be pre-screened and then be referred to a Disaster Case Management provider for a full assessment of needs.
  • Our Disaster Case Managers will work one-on-one with affected families to:
    • Conduct holistic assessments
    • Develop recovery goals
    • Provide information, referrals, and advocacy for a wide array of needs
  • If housing needs are identified, the Disaster Case Manager will make an immediate referral to a Housing Services Provider who will assist the family with applying for housing through various sources.

Catholic Charities provides help when disasters strike.  From the World Trade Center disaster to Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Maria, Catholic Charities serves as the premier provider and coordinator of disaster relief.
