Assemblyman James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) announced that he has secured a $25,000 grant for Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County to help buy beds and other basic household items through the organization’s Case Management and Resources Exchange Program; this vital initiative serves over 2,100 local individuals and families every year.
“Having a bed to sleep in at night can be taken for granted, but there are thousands of our Orange County neighbors lacking some of the fundamental household items we depend on every day,” Assemblyman Skoufis said. “Catholic Charities has been instrumental in helping our region’s most vulnerable access a higher quality of life through its diverse programs and initiatives, and I know this funding will be put to essential use.”
The agency will use the grant to purchase many everyday necessities, including mattresses, bedding, pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.
“Assemblyman Skoufis has been a strong supporter of Catholic Charities and a champion for the most vulnerable in our community,” said Dr. Dean Scher, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County. “We are exceptionally grateful for his assistance in securing this grant; these funds will help us to make a real and positive difference in the lives of those we serve.”
Catholic Charities of Orange County – one of the human services agencies of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York – works to prevent homelessness, hunger as well as alcohol and substance abuse in our communities.
