Food pantry collection drive launches in Yonkers - LoHud

In 2015, Feeding Our Neighbors raised the equivalent of 1.3 million meals, supported by $93,000 in cash donations and more than 17,000 pounds of food collected at ShopRite's Hudson Valley locations and 26 ShopRite supermarkets launched this year’s archdiocesan-wide Feeding Our Neighbors campaign Thursday.

The stores will participate through point-of-sale collections Jan. 30. At checkout, shoppers will be asked to make donations of cash or non-perishable food to the annual food drive.

In 2015, Feeding Our Neighbors raised the equivalent of 1.3 million meals, supported in large part by $93,000 in cash donations and more than 17,000 pounds of food collected at ShopRite locations throughout the Hudson Valley.

"This is a period when food pantries don't get the (food) they need," said Tom Urtz, ShopRite's vice president of operations.
