Fiat 500 Pope Francis rode in during NYC visit auctioned off for charity for at least $300G - New York Daily News

It’s a four-wheeled holy roller with a papal pedigree.

A granite-colored Fiat 500 Lounge Hatchback used to ferry Pope Francis around New York during his whirlwind Sept. 2015 visit was auctioned off Thursday for charity.

Officials did not announce the winning bidder or the amount of the winning bid, although the top offer hit $300,000 at one point.

The car was confirmed as the pope’s New York ride by both the Secret Service and the Archdiocese of New York. The winning bidder, in addition to the Fiat, will get a meet-and-greet with Timothy Cardinal Dolan to seal the deal.

he winner can bring along three friends, and Dolan will pose for a photo outside the popemobile.

The proceeds from the auction will benefit Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Schools.

Pope Francis, during his hectic 40-hour New York stay, visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Central Park and the 9/11 Memorial, and celebrated Mass inside Madison Square Garden.
